Summary
The 'Creative and media' product was developed as part of the Quality Improvement Agency’s Teaching and Learning Programme.

Project Aims
The aim was to create a resource that would support teaching and learning of this subject through taking an innovative and exciting approach to continuing professional development for teachers, tutors and trainers.

What we did
DESQ developed a suite of digital and printed resources in Creative and media that cover key subject-related themes, key teaching and learning themes and pedagogy, and above all support Creative and media teachers in their continuing professional development.

These resources were developed in consultation with a large part of the target audience, from the research stage to the final production stages. There was also extensive collaboration with Creative and media providers, professional bodies in the Creative and Media fields and with the other media production companies providing resources in the same phase of development. The resources met the challenge of representing the extensive range of the Creative and media sector and appealing to the many different teachers, trainers, tutors and learners who will be using the resource.

In developing these e-learning resources we were conscious of the need to provide a blended solution that maximised the take up of the resource and increased their flexibility. These resources in Creative and media provide a perfect blend of print, CD/DVD and online access designed to support Creative and media teachers to improve their teaching and professional practice.

Feedback

"A fusion of cutting edge Flash technology, 3d immersive environments and world class learning resources has produced some e-learning based professional development material that will have great impact across the Creative and media subject area.

This resource has been developed through extensive consultation with users and industry representatives, and with pedagogical approaches that have been verified by the Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training."
