In March, ten of the best Yorkshire digital companies were selected to
work on innovative new ideas for BBC Interactive, and DESQ was one of
them. The teams were chosen as part of the BBC's Innovation Labs
project, which gives an opportunity for the BBC to meet and work with
the best regional talent across the UK.DESQ's creative
director David Squire paired up with magician, technologist and
long-time collaborator Stuart Nolan, who won a prestigious NESTA
fellowship to study the use of magic and games in learning.
Their
idea, Digital Collective Mind Games, a digital brain gym for the
over-50s that bridges the gap between radio and the web, stimulates
mental agility and, in turn, health and wellbeing, is being fine-tuned
and put forward to interactive and radio departments at the BBC, with
the support of the BBC Creative R&D team.
